Not all heat cable is created equal
My advice to anyone considering heat cable for ice dam prevention is to either install a high-quality, self-regulating heat cable or skip it altogether.
In this first post of the Heat Cable series, Steve addresses the folly of categorizing all ice dam heat cable as the same product, getting into the details of the key differences between constant wattage heat cable and self- regulating heat cable.
